Urban bushman band gathered in 1999 in the pure love of reggae, its joy and inspiration. As years went by the band members and sound altered many times reflecting the transformation of ourselves and the world around, but the heart of the band still beats on in the rhythm of nyabinghi.

The band sound is based on roots reggae but reflections of dancehall, dub and soul can be traced as well.

Our first full-featured album “Maranatha“ was released in 2003 at Ambient Praha label and second album “Heart“ came out in June 2006. The latter was eventually shortlisted for Czech Music Academy Prize Andìl in reggae and ska category in March in the same year.

Urban bushman band has done several dozens of concerts all around the Czech republic and many times in Germany, too, where we used to play even more frequently at the time. Thanks to that, we had the opportunity to play with Desmond Dekker as a support band at Kassablanca in Jena in 2005 and during the same year we accompanied a leading British dub poet and musician Levi Tafari in Prague´s British Council.
